I don't know about you girls but I am a sucker for anything Christmas related! I absolutely love this time of year! I love Christmas music & movies, decorations, lights, red and green, snowflakes & snowmen, candy canes, I could go on and on! Last week, after I went to the doctors, I went home and watched Home Alone 1 and snuggled up in bed! Oh how I love that movie! Perfect holiday movie! :)
Anyway, as most of you know I'm hosting a table at my church's holiday tea this year. My theme for the table is CANDY CANE. Everything red and white and fun! The past two years I've done a snowmen and snowflakes theme with all white and blue hues. Which was fun, but I want to mix things up this year. So I searched online for some decor ideas to help me with some finishing touches. To go along with this theme or even other holiday get togethers, here is a cute cookie recipe! I made these last year for coworkers. They loved them, and they are so simple and easy to do!
Christmas Candy Cane Cookies
1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker® sugar cookie mix
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
2 to 3 drops red or green food color
Baking Instructions:
1. Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, stir cookie mix, butter and egg until dough forms. Divide dough in half. Stir food color into 1 half; mix well.
2. For each candy cane, shape 1 teaspoon dough from each half into 4-inch rope. Place 1 red and white rope side by side on ungreased cookie sheet; press together lightly and twist. Curve top of cookie down to form handle of cane.
3. Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
Special Touch
Brush cookies with a thin vanilla glaze and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies.
