My First Vegan Restaurant

Hello girls!  I realized I had forgot to tell you about an interesting experience I had the other day, actually it was on my birthday!  I heard about this entirely vegan restaurant about 45 minutes away from where I live, and not too far from where the mall is where I had planned on going shopping for my birthday anyway.

I had no idea there was even a vegan restaurant that close by!  I found out about it on Alicia Silverstone's The Kind Life website in one of their forums.  It was highly recommended by people who live in that area, so I thought I should give it a try.  And what better time to convince my husband to actually go with me, then when it's my birthday lunch, and I have full dips on choosing where we eat?  I know otherwise, he would never go up there with me!  : P

I didn't really know what to expect.  I had checked out The Loving Cafe website though, and nothing looked too scary, and somethings looked quite yummy!  Above is a picture of the menu board and below are a lot of organic teas and juices you can choose from.

My husband wasn't exactly thrilled about it, he is a pretty big meat eater, but we made a deal, he would order something and at least try it and give it a fair try at that, and if he didn't really like it, he could get something more his style at the food court in the mall!  See, compromises work!

He ordered a soup and sandwich combo:

The soup was a mix of sweet potatoes, lentils, and other ingredients I can't remember, but sounded good.

The sandwich had vegan turkey, vegan cheese, vegan mayo, and vegan cole slaw!  We saw it included cole slaw, but we thought it was a side, not actually on the sandwich, so that was a little different.  But it looks good doesn't it?

I ordered their BBQ chickenless meal, that came mixed veggies, and with brown rice and a salad:

The BBQ fake "meat" was actually really good!!  I would eat that again, the flavoring was delicious!
I also chose a drink not from their display but a wildberry tea, not sweetened with sugar but I think brown rice syrup.  It was yummy!

My husband didn't mind his soup, the sandwich however, although not completely horrible, was not something he particularly enjoyed!

That's about all he could manage to eat, and you can sort of tell in the photo that his arms are crossed, and he's had enough!  lol But he was brave and sweet for trying!

One thing I thought was a bit strange though, was the channel they had their tv on, and all these booklets they had lying around.  The people/maybe family that own this particular Loving Cafe (there is another one located in Ohio) are part of a weird religion.  I'm not trying to offend in any way, I'm religious, I believe in Jesus Christ, but for one I didn't expect to see religion incorporated into this restaurant, and two it was a very weird religion, from what I gathered.  Take a look at the tv:

The tv stays on the same channel: the Supreme Master TV channel
Which is a bit weird on it's own, but through the translation we learned that to be a part of this religion you have to actually be vegan!  I had never heard of being vegan as a requirement for any religion!  And then if that's not odd enough, they worship a woman, who is still alive.......that is their "god".

It was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen/experienced!  This was how my husband felt about what the tv was saying:

His facial expression just cracks me up! You can tell he was ready to leave!!

Other then the weird religion aspect, I enjoyed the food, and the restaurant had more customers in there then I thought they would while we were there for lunch.  It seems like The Loving Cafe is doing pretty well for itself.

I also got a vegan cupcake to go.... It was my birthday you know, and although I've had vegan chocolate bars, I've never had vegan cupcakes.  I thought I would try a chocolate one.  It was delicious!

Now keep in mind, vegan means not only no meat, but also no products that come from animals, like milk, cheese, eggs, etc...  And in case, you were wondering, I am not vegan, but I do mix in vegan foods in my diet on a regular basis.  Vegan burgers are actually quite good!  So I don't eat meat all the time, a lot of times I do go meat free for meals, but am not ready at this time to go meat free forever.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my experience at my first Vegan restaurant!  Have you ever tried a really unusual type of restaurant?  What was your experience??  Would you ever try a vegan restaurant?

On another note, HAPPY EASTER!  What a wonderful day to celebrate!

Birthday Purchases

As most of you know my birthday was on the 5th.  I got to go on a shopping spree!  I wanted to share with you some of my purchases:

(Forever 21)

I've always loved the letterman cardigans, and my last name starts with an F,
so I thought this was kind of perfect!

Neon V-Neck Slub Top
 (Forever 21)

I got this tee in the neon pink shade above.  It's even more neon in person!
I also got it in a size larger than normal because I've really been loving the baggier look.

 (Forever 21)
I'm not quite sure if this is excatly the same top I purcahsed, but it basically looks the same.  Mine is just a different shade, it's a very light pale pastel purple, maybe Lilac.  I like this top because it's got that loose fit, dolman style.  Paired with skinny pants, I really love the simple, easy look.

I'm disappointed I can't find the other two fabulous cardigans that I also purchased from Forever 21.  I searched on their website, but couldn't find them, probably because they were on clearance.  I'll have to show you outfit pictures with them soon!  One is a slouchy cream cardigan with large black hearts all over, super cute!  Another is a more fitted black cardigan with white bows all over.  Both are really cute, and were very affordable since the weather is warming up!

I had a gift card to Wet Seal, that I used as well.  I haven't actually shopped in there before, so it was fun to check it out!  Wet Seal's website doesn't let you save the pictures, it only does that zoom in view thing, so here are links to the items I purchased:

Non-clothing Purchases:

The Mortal Instruments Series Book 4:
City of Fallen Angels

I love this book series, my husband, although he hasn't read any of the series, was the one to hear about, and he thought it sounded like something I would like, so one of the things he had got me for Christmas were the first 3 books in the series, and thankfully the 4th one came out right in time for my birthday!  I definitely got drawn into the world Cassandra Clare has created!

The Cosby Show:
Seasons 3 & 4

I am a huge fan of The Cosby Show, almost nothing makes me laugh as much as The Huxtable family!  Since I have seasons 1 & 2, I knew I needed to own the rest of them, so I started with the next two in line.  I could watch The Cosby show over and over again!  It was one of my favorite shows growing up, and in fact I love it now even more!
Well, I think that's the majority of the things I purchased with birthday money.  It was definitely a fun day of shopping!   I might have to do another post for some of the items that were given to me.  I was very blessed this year!  And I appreciate all my loved ones who were so good to me this birthday.

I hope you girls are having a good week so far, sorry I haven't been posting as much.  That will be improving starting today.  Things at work are still about the same, so most of my attention has been to that.  It's been sad not reading most of your blogs the last couple of weeks, and it's definitely not because I don't want to! So I will be stopping by all your amazing blogs here shortly! :)

Have a wonderful afternoon!

Outfit Post: The Granny Look

Hello there girls, I want to say thank you for listening to my venting the other day.  Things are still frustrating at work, but I appreciate all you that listened and for your encouragement!

I also, actually have an outfit post to share with you today.

It was really bright out that day, so most of my pictures turned out like this:

I would not make it long on America's Next Top Model, that's for sure!!

I thought the outfit was cute though, so I wanted to share it with you!

I really love the pattern on this skirt:

Isn't that trig in the background annoying though?

My husband also caught me trying to pull the skirt down a little bit, with this style of skirt, it can ride up a bit, and make you look like a granny:

Which, is something I never want.  Do you like the granny look??

I do however, like the ankle booties:

Wearing:
Ruffle top & black tights: Gordmon's
Black Blazer: Miley Cyrus & Max Azria for Walmart
Skirt & ring: F21
Ankle booties: Colin Stuart (courtesy DesignerApparel.com)

My birthday is tomorrow, I'm turning 25 years old!  I'm still young at heart, and love it when my birthday comes around, so I can't wait for tomorrow, and enjoying a day just for me!
Sound selfish?  I hope not! : P
Do you still look forward to your birthday?

25 Years Of Age

So with my birthday coming up just around the corner, April 5th, my mind has been a bit focused on the age.  I will be turning 25 years old!  To me, that seems like a big deal!  Doesn't it seem kind of old??  I'll admit to me, it sort of does.  I don't feel old though.  It got me thinking about what female celebrities are 25, or will be 25 this year.

Already 25:

When I started looking up the ages of some of these celebrities, some of them kind of surprised me!  How about you?  Did you realize these girls were 25 or about to be?  How old are you?  Do you know of certain celebrities that are along side you in age?  Some of these stars have already accomplished so much!!!!

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

The Heels Have It

So I was checking out Charlotte Russe's website and I noticed two pairs of heels I sort of like.  They are different from what I would normally get, but I think they would probably go with most outfits.  What do you think?

These strappy peeped toe high heeled sandals are $36.50

Below: studded cuff platforms $29.99

I like them both, although I probably won't be going shopping until my birthday (which is April 5th!)  So I will have to wait on any purchases.  Least my birthday isn't too far away!  I started thinking about what I want, usually I get new clothes and shoes.  I may just go with that, but I'm also thinking about getting my hair cut and colored professionally for my birthday.  When I cut my hair I always go to a salon, but I haven't gotten my hair professionally colored for a LONG time, so I am seriously thinking about.  Any birthday suggestions??

Birthday Surpises!!!

Alright, so I'm sorry I haven't been on in almost a week. It was my birthday Sunday, and then Tuesday we took the day and went to the mall and shopped. I also had a lot of school stuff to get done. I just finished an essay so I'm all yours for now! lol
You will not believe what my husband got me for my birthday! A Chanel purse!! Yes that's right, I said Chanel!! I'm sure many of you already own designer bags, but this blogger does not....and I've always wanted a Chanel purse!! So I was thrilled and surprised to receive one! He got a good deal on it, thankfully. He wanted to get me a black and white one, but that wasn't one of the choices he had. So I got an all white Chanel purse! Which, of course, is still amazing! I just need to be extra cautious as to not get it dirty!! I haven't even had a chance to take any pics of my new Chanel purse or any of the other stuff I got this week, but I will have them up on here soon, I promise!!
As for now, I have a few random things to post. So I'm not sure if any of you are believers...but there is this amazing worship song we sing at church, called God of this City. The lyrics can't completely tell you how powerful this song is. But here they are:

Verse 1.
You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are

You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless
You are

Bridge:
For there is no one like our God
There is no one like You God

Chorus 1:
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

Verse 2:
You're the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You're the King above all kings
You Are

You're the strength in our weakness
You're the love to the broken
You're the joy in the sadness
You Are

Bridge:
Chorus 2:
For greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city

When glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for You and love for You
In this city

Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

I don't know if any of you ever feel moved by what God has done, and what he has yet to do, but it just offers me so much hope that greater things have yet to come, and are still to be done wherever you are, in your city, in my city, all over the world. Don't lose hope. He isn't through with you yet. He isn't finished here. I hope you all don't mind. I know this is blog about fashion, and that's what it will usually be, but for now, I just wanted to put that song out there, and I would suggest searching it online to listen to it, and let it move you just as it has moved me. Chris Tomlin is the singer. Have a wonderful day!!!

Coming Attraction: My Birthday!

So my birthday is coming up soon. It's April 5th. I want a shopping spree.....new clothes, accessories...etc.... Do any of you have any suggestions on what I need to get? lol Or where I need to shop? I'm open to ideas. I'm looking for summer clothes and other fun stuff! Also I'm thinking about buying a pair of flats....something I normally wouldn't do since I'm only 5'3...but I'm feeling daring....Also I'm wanting some new makeup I think.....Any ideas would be helpful, but remember I'm not full of $$....but it's my birthday so other people are spending the money! haha

It's hard for me to believe I'm going to be 23 years old! I don't really feel my age.....hmmm...but what does 22 really feel like?? I feel happy....
