Holiday Aftermath

So the holiday season has kept me very busy! It's been a good past week though! We've had4 different Christmas celebrations. All of which went very well! I feel very blessed! It was a very touching Christmas, like I had hoped!

Also, my husband's mom got me a new DIGITAL CAMERA!!! It's been so long since my camera had broke, so it's so nice to have one of my own again! It's a pink Sony digital camera, 12.1 mega pixels! I'm super excited! Now I can have more consistent outfit posts! I do have to get a memory card though. My mother-in-law thought it came with one, but it didn't, and I told her I could just go buy one!! So I should be getting that soon! Also, I got a gift card to FOREVER 21 and some Christmas money! So New camera and new clothes!!! You can't go wrong!!!

I'm shopping right now on meetmark.com and I'm looking at a pair belted peep toe booties on Charlotte Russe's website on sale for only $9.99!! I can't decide if I should get them or not! I've never bought shoes from online before!! I am so indecisive too, so that doesn't help!!

What did you get for Christmas? And are you doing any after Christmas shopping?? I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!

I've been watching a lot of Audrey Hepburn movies.

I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sabrina, and My Fair Lady, all in the past week! Can you believe I've never seen those movies before? I think I watched My Fair Lady when I was really little, but I hardly remembered it. I even was given these movies last year or so, but just never got around to watching them. But I had some free time alone, here and there, and cuddled up on the couch and watched them.

I've always liked Audrey Hepburn, but now I'm practically obsessed! I loved her in these movies and her clothes in Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sabrina are amazing!!! I wish I lived in the 50s and 60s if only for the fun party dresses and lady like clothing! I'm going to try to incorporate more the old school fashion into my wardrobe! I just want to be more like her. Her style is iconic that's for sure!! She's so dainty and graceful.

I'm on the search to buy some other Audrey Hepburn movies. What would you suggest I watch next? I've heard Charade is really good, and that Roman Holiday was her first major role. Any thoughts???

Christmas Plans

So Christmas is in one week! Are you ready? Any last minute shopping you have left to do? How are you all celebrating? Any family traditions you do year after year?

Here's a run down of our Christmas plans: First on Christmas eve we go to my grandpa's, on my dad's side, and we all celebrate there. Then after that party, my two brothers and my dad are coming over to my husband and I's home for a more intimate celebration. Then Christmas day we head over to my husband, Tim's, mom, and spend the day with her. Then the day after Christmas we head on over to Tim's grandparent's house for a party with his entire side of the family. And some where in between all of that we are having my mom, and her boyfriend, and my two brothers over for a separate Christmas with them. It's very busy, that's for sure! When you have divorced parents and are married, you have a lot of places to be during the holidays! Makes it very eventful!

I'm hoping this Christmas, is stress free, completely enjoyable, and focused on the true meaning: Jesus' birth!

picture: www.wehearit.com

These year for when my dad and brothers come over to our home Christmas Eve, we are doing something a bit different. A lot of hardships have happened in our family in the last year or so, so I'm trying to make it more about the meaning behind Christmas, rather than the money value of things. I don't want any one to feel pressured to buy something. So I read this idea in a book I recently read called 101 ways to give this Christmas away by Matthew west.

We are having a birthday party for Jesus. Now, I don't know how many of you believe in Jesus or not, but are family does, and our faith is something that's of great importance to us. So anyway, I am making a birthday party for Jesus at our home. I'm baking a cake, that's going to be a two-layered cake in the shape of a Christmas tree! Which should be fun! And it's going to to be Jesus' birthday cake, and although we may feel kind of silly at first, we are going to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus!

Here's a picture of the cake I will be baking. You can decorate it any way you like. I got the idea from www.bettycrocker.com

We will read the story of his birth in the Bible. And hopefully focus on ways we can give back to Him in the New Year. So I'm excited to focus on God this holiday season. I'm trying to think of meaningful gifts for them still. We already have something in mind for each of them, but I want something more thoughtful for each one of them as well.

There's this Christmas candy that my grandma would have out every year around the holidays, and every time I see it, it makes me think of her. She passed away around 8 years ago. I thought about buying a bag or two and dividing it up and putting it in a little decorative bag for each of them, and sign it love, Nana, which is what we called our grandma. How does that sound? I'm also writing letters to them, telling them how much they really mean to me.

Anyway, I know I went on longer then I usually do, but I thought I would share some of our Christmas plans with you. And again, I would love for you to share you family traditions etc., with me!!

Just in case, I don't remember to say it later. Merry Christmas to all of you! I really hope you all have an amazing time with your family and friends!!

Chanel Goes To China!

That's right, Chanel Goes to China!!

Here are only some pictures of the collection off the runway in Shanghai. These are the ones that I thought were the best! Click here for the rest of the collection.

I really love this black leather suit below! Looks tough but girly at the same time!

Can you imagine wearing earrings like what most of the girls are wearing? It would really take some getting used to because of how long they are.

I love this green outfit here. Very cute!

I must have a thing for red, because lately, that's what's been catching my eye a lot! It really draws your attention!! Next time I go shopping I think I might pick up a red top or something. Hopefully I get a gift card to Forever 21. We will see. I haven't gone shopping in forever! We are just trying to be wise with our money and not spend it on something we really don't need.

What do you think about Chanel's collection in Shanghai? Do you like what you see? What caught your eye the most? Would you wear any of it?

Also, I'm in need of a new winter coat. Any ideas on where to go? I don't want to spend a whole of money, but I need something new. My winter coat now, has just about had it. I don't like anything really puffy, I just don't think it's flattering on me. I need something warm. It gets pretty cold here in Indiana. Any suggestions?? Where do you purchase your winter coats?

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful day! And stress free Christmas planning/shopping!

Outfit Post Again!

So I still have my mother-in-law's camera. Although, I will need to return it soon sadly!! But I will enjoy it while I can! So I look kind of goofy! But I love this shirt, that I bought about a month or so ago from walmart. The shirt was only $10!!! I love the open back. I think it's a way of being a little sexy, without being too overexposed! And it's Max Aria and Miley Cyrus.
Shirt: Max Azria & Miley Cryus
Jeans: Bongo
Boots: Payless

I think I look a bit stubby, maybe these boots aren't for me!

Well, sadly I got to make this quick, but be back tomorrow!

Outfit Post!!! Can you Believe it!?!?!

So my mother-in-law was kind enough to let me borrow her digital camera for a home project I was doing, and so I thought I should take advantage of having a working camera to use! Since mine, most of you know has stopped working. So It was awesome being able to actually take pictures for an outfit post for the blog! Oh, how I've missed that! I don't know why some of the shots are a little blurry, my husband actually helped take some of them! I know right, amazing?
OUTFIT:
yellow cardigan: walmart
white flowered tank: Forever 21
Jeans: Bongo
Boots: Payless

Christmas Tree: decorated by me! And this is the first glimpse, very small glimpse, at our new home! I promise to get more pictures of it soon for you all to see!

These next shots are obviously taken after football started Sunday after church, when football is on, my husband doesn't look away from the tv! So you get to see close shots of me! Sorry!

I've never put my hair up like this before. I had in in a ponytail and just kind of pinned it up with a few bobby pins, and you know I don't think it looks half bad!

Below: figuring out the 10 second self-timer on this digital camera.

And yes, that is our shower curtain behind me! lol The medicine cabinet had a decent spot to set up the camera!

So, what do you think, does my hair look alright up like that? I don't know how long it would really last, especially if I had to go outside in this dreary weather! Oh, and sorry it's not the best outfit for a long awaited new outfit post, but it will just have to do! :) Maybe if I'm lucky Santa will send me a digital camera for Christmas. My husband and I are trying to make Christmas more about the meaning rather than the money value of things, but maybe someone else in our family will want to spend the money on it! We'll see!

What are you all looking forward to this holiday season??? Any family traditions? I'd love to know!

Money and Family

I've got a question for you

How do you feel about money and family? Specifically loaning money to a family member whose in a rough place or situation? It's a tricky thing......loaning money to family.

It makes me feel bad to say no to someone if I'm in the position to help. Especially since I'm trying so hard to focus on people in need this Christmas, like collecting food for the local food panties. Doesn't it make sense to help your family if your willing to help strangers? It's just something I'm battling with and I wondered how you all feel about it?

An adult in my family today asked if they could borrow a $100 from my husband and I and they would give it back by tomorrow when they get their paycheck. That wouldn't seem so bad, but it's just not the first time they've asked and sometimes they say they will pay back but then they don't. So how does one handle a situation like this. You don't want to leave a person you love in a bad position if you can help them, but then you don't want to lose money like that either, especially when my husband and I just bought a house.

So I ended up running to the bank and withdrawing money. I just know what the Bible says about helping those in need, and how you shouldn't turn your back on people in need, so how can I say no? My husband was amazing today to let us loan money if I decided we should. I'm so grateful for my husband.

Anyway, I know this isn't fashion related, but I would be interested in what you think.
And I hope you all are having a good day!
