So A Little Venting.......

Hello girls, I need to vent just a little.  Work has been full of drama!  Nothing I want anything to do with.  All the stuff going on at work, is why I've had no motivation to do any blogging or extra stuff here lately, for which I'm sorry.  Work has just been so exhausting and frustrating!

I do my best to stay out of "office gossip".  Do you ever experience drama, or gossip at your work place?  From what I hear, every place has these types of problems, some just more then others.  Hopefully you're one of the lucky ones, and don't have to worry much about these issues, because it's definitely not fun to deal with.  It seems like lately at my work, it's only gotten worse.  To make a long story short, we have a few people at our work place that are good at acting.  When I say acting, I mean good at acting like their your friends and pretending to like you, but when their around someone else, they say mean terrible, hurtful, and mostly untrue things, about you.  And these certain people, basically do this with everyone, it's like their not loyal or trustworthy to anyone, at least not for very long.

Unfortunately, my husband and I both, try to go out of our way and be nice to everyone, and be thoughtful to others, so it's frustrating when I hear they've been talking about me or him or both of us when we aren't around.  I knew they talked bad about others, so I guess I shouldn't be all that surprised, but it stinks when you think you've maybe become some what close to someone, or feel as though you've really helped them out and then they do things like this.  It makes me feel, like what's the point in being nice to anyone at work?  When most of them are just mean-spirited at heart?  How can I be kind to someone I know just the other day was talking really bad about me, and for no apparent reason?

I know this may sound trivial.  But I must admit, it still hurts me, if someone talks bad about me, or doesn't like me for no good reason.

Are you ever faced with people like this?
One's who no matter what you do on your end are just mean?
How do you deal with this, when at times you have to work with them?

I feel the same as you if people talk about me since I've never been a gossip queen or talked bad about others.
As for work I'm lucky in that my 1st (part time) job is working for one of my old professors at school. I have no other coworkers and she's hardly in the office. My 2nd job is working a few days a week at a local Dance school. I work with girls between ages 3-7 so I don't have to worry about them gossiping :)
Once I graduate(in May) and move on to my future career(in Broadcast Journalism) things may change.
Sorry to hear there are people talking about you but the best thing to do is ignore them. If they talk about you behind your back then they're not good coworkers/friends anyway. Just focus on the positive and ignore the negative. Kara XOXO

I know exactly how you feel. I think a lot of people are having this problem. Why can't people just mind their own business? I hope people won't talk behind your back any more. I agree with Kara! Enjoy your Sunday!

Urgh, how horrible! So sorry you're gonig through this. I think all offices have office gossip, but it's not nice. Ours is really bad for gossip - I try and not get too involved, but it's kind of inevitable that with so many words flying about you'll be the subject of it every now and then.

It's a shame because I have some lovely colleagues, but it makes me much less likely to share things with them and get close to them for fear it might end up being spread about.

I think this happens everywhere. My office isn't too bad, but there are certainly times when it springs up. All you can do is choose to be nice to everyone and know that you're the better person.

Sorry you have to go through this. I only hope thing get better for you!

I had a bad work experience, and it affects my confidence. :(

The people who are talking bad may be insecure...

I am really sorry to hear about this Tasha :( I guess there's nothing you can do about it except carry on being your nice and bubbly self! If other people can't see you for who you are, it's their loss.

Hi girl, I understand how it feels since I used to be in such a work place. Right now, I don't have problems with gossips at work because people are widely diverse, it's that little racism that sometimes bugs me but quite tolerable.

As to your question of how to maintain kindness to people who aren't nice to you, I guess you better just smile at them but you need not entertain whenever they come to you and start talking about anything or anyone. Maintain your distance. Either you're nice to them or not, they'll be gossiping about you anyway. So you better choose the position that doesn't hurt you as much.

All the best. :)

Ugh, that is so terrible and I am sorry people have been doing that to you and your husband. Sometimes people do that to lift themselves up. They put others down so they feel good which is so wrong. I think sometimes get so caught up in acting that way that they don't even realize when they do it. Sometimes confronting the person is a good idea depending on the situation.

Sorry to hear about this. But most workplaces do have the same drama! My last office was awful for gossip. It's always good to vent though.

Some people like being mean and that's their problem!! I think we should be as nice as we can though. And let those people live in drama.
